November 2011 Meeting Notes
The November meeting of the Bluegrass Club was called to order by President Del Mercier at 7:05 pm with 42 present.

The club had a special guest, Tom Jones from the Keenland Concours event. There had been conversations with Tom to consider making the Mustang the featured car for the event. With the 50th anniversary of the Mustang coming up it would be an ideal time. The Concours committee approved the Mustang being the featured car for 2013 and the dream would be to have 1,000 Mustangs at the show. The show would be a pre-release to the 5oth anniversary of the Mustang. It was felt that if we waited to 2014 there would be competition with anniversary shows all over the area. It gives a year and a half to plan.
Tom then gave the club an overview of the beginning and development of the Keenland Concours event. The proceeds from the show go to the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, and over the years the show has donated $525,000.00. When the option was presented of having the Mustang as the featured car, the Concours staff jumped all over it. Tom summed it up by the statement, “Come for the cars, stay for the people.” Later in the meeting, there was a motion made that we jump in with “Both feet” for the Concours event and seconded. Motion was carried.

There was 1 new member, Tommy Buford who purchased a new Boss 302 from Kain Ford. He rode in Kenny Keelings Boss and decided that he had to have one himself. Welcome to the club Tommy.

The meeting notes from the October meeting was distributed and a motion was made to accept and seconded.

The beginning balance for October was $5,311.73 with deposits of $100.00. There were two checks paid, #1 for $1,303.85 for the new tent, and #2 was $25.00 to the downtown Lexington Corp. for the Christmas parade. This left an ending balance of $4,082.88. There were no additions or corrections so a motion was made to approve and seconded.

October 2011 meeting notes

A motion was made to approve the Treasurers report and seconded.

There were also 7 cars that showed up for the Fireman’s Parade. The Corvettes outnumbered us but we were positioned in front of them when the parade started, so the best went first.

Anyone wanting to order club apparel see Anthony Eldridge after the meeting.

Del reported on the 10x20 Easy Up tent for the Dads and Grads. There were a couple of options, but the one that was recommended would cost $1,291.85 with no sales tax. They could have the tent to us in 3 business days. There was discussion on the color of the tent, and it was decided to get white. A motion was made to approve $1,300.00 for the tent, seconded and approved.

A vote was taken by ballot and an email would be sent out to the rest of the club that was not in attendance.

New meeting places: Del, Fred, and Debbie had a meeting with JP Miller of Paul Miller Ford to give them a plaque, T-Shirt, and dash plaque in appreciation for their $500.00 donation for the Dads & Grads show. He offered the BMC to option of having their meetings at Paul Miller Ford. Also it was presented to them the option of being part of our program that when a new or used Mustang is sold, Paul Miller will pay the $20.00 for a 1 year’s membership to the Bluegrass Mustang club. They were excited about the program.  JP Miller was asked to give us a proposal about having the BMC meetings at Paul Miller Ford. The proposal was then read in tonight’s meeting. There would be 2 options of rooms to use for the meetings, and they would provide complimentary drinks for the club along with light appetizers from the Thunderbird Cafe. They will also be glad to provide a membership to BMC to anyone who purchases a new or used Mustang.
It was also mentioned that we approach Jack Kain Ford to see if they would be interested in hosting meetings, and doing it on a rotating basis with the 3 dealerships.

September 2011 Meeting

The August 2011 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Del Mercier with 34 present. We had two visitors. We had 4 new members present. They were Mike & Patty McCord and they have a 2007 Shelby GTH, Bob Roth that has a 2010 GT, Kim Barker with their sons Christian and Nicholas. Her husband Scott was not able to attend the meeting. Welcome to the club to all.

The August minutes were passed out for everyone to check and a motion was made to approve and was seconded.

The financial report was read by Howard Fitzgerald. The beginning balance was $4.745.88 with deposits of $170.00 There was 1 check paid for $100.00 from the Wounded warriors program which left a balance of $4,815.88. The present balance is $5,121.63. At the cruise-in, the silent auction brought in $35.00 and the 50/50 brought in $62.05, there was also $70.00 in flag sales.

A motion was made to approve, seconded, and the motion was passed.

Club member activities. Fred reported on his trip to Des Moines Iowa MCA National show. There was 290 cars at the show and Fred came away with a 3rd place award. They also went to Waldorf Md. where there were 480 cars and Fred took home a 1st place award.

The club also went to the Somernites cruise-in Somerset and there were 1,451 cars with 560 of them being Mustangs which set a new record for Mustangs. We took a Stampede of 20 Mustangs from the club in a caravan to Somerset. We had some people who met us there so we had 23 or 24 cars at the show. We mostly parked together and it worked out well for the club. We had one club member who was quite visual at the show with his new vehicle. It was Kenny and his new BOSS 302 Leguna Seca. It had a crowd around it most of the show. The person who drove the furthest was from Anchorage Alaska. The weather was warm, but not scorching like last year and a good time was had by all.

The McDonalds cruise-in was last Saturday night, and we had something that was very rare for one of our events. It was actually DRY (no rain), and Gary Galick didn’t find any horses to drive behind. We had 52 cars signed in, with many more who didn’t sign in so there was probably around 70 cars there. There was great music with the Ice Man, door prizes, a silent auction, and just a great gathering. Thanks to McDonalds for sponsoring the Ice Man, and to Valvoline for door prizes and other gifts.

New business: There will be a Fire Prevention Parade on Monday October 10th starting at 7 pm.

Louisville Councours d’Elegance: September 30th thru October 2nd.

Boonesborough Boogie on October 7th 8th and 9th.

Membership report. Fred reported that the new membership total was 126. We picked up 2 new members at the Somernites cruise and 3 from Jack Kain Ford.

Fred also reported that the MCA board of directors election coming up and encouraged MCA members to participate. There is a postage paid ballot in this month’s issue of the Mustang times, utilize it. There was an election to fill the open position on the Board of Directors left by the move of Dennis Harvat to California. After the vote, Anthony Eldridge will be filling that position for the remainder of Dennis term.

It is September, and the elections for new officers and Board of Directors is in November, and the new officers will be announced at the Christmas party in December. There is a great need for someone to step up and coordinate the Christmas party. Karen and Lorna volunteered to head up the Christmas party planning which will be on Saturday December 3rd at Central Bank in Nicholasville Kentucky.

It was also mentioned that if anyone wants to place an order for Mustang Club apparel, see Anthony Eldridge. You can go to FayetteGraphics.com and see what is available. T-Shirts, Jackets, hats, and chairs are available to be shipped directly to your home.

Next was the BMC website. We now have a web administrator and it is Mark Steinpreis. If there are any suggestions send him an email.

Charities: There was a lengthy discussion about the charities for 2012. The question was put forth; do we want to change the Charities? The ones that we have now were ones that are local therefore keeping the money local. They were Kentucky Riding for hope, The Make a Wish Foundation and the Boy Scout troop #859. For the new members it was explained how that the club came up with the list of charities was obtained and how the money was divided. A list of the charities that were on the list last year was read by Becky Mercier. A motion was made to open the review process again to decide on charities for 2012 and seconded. A motion was also made to keep the number of charities to three and was seconded and passed. There was a motion that we keep the Boy Scout Troop #859 and make them 1 of the three charities for 2012. There was a second and the motion passed.

For the rest of the charities, send an email with your nominations to ramercier@insightbb.com. The top two vote getters will be combined with the Boy Scout troop #859 for our three charities for 2012.

August 2011 Meeting

The August 2011 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:10 pm by President Del Mercier with 34 present.  We had two visitors. The first one was Jeff Osborne who was a service manager at a local Ford dealership, and the second one was Buddy Cooper and he owned a 1966 Mustang convertible that he had in high school, and had set in his grandfathers garage for 25 years.

First item: Anthony had been working on an alternative source for BMC merchandise and we had a guest from Fayette Graphics in Lexington. His name was Dan Sheshull  and he gave a presentation on the products that would be available to the club. There was quite a spirited discussion and using Fayette Graphics was well received.

The July meeting minutes were passed out and a motion was made to approve and seconded.

The financial report was then presented by Howard. The beginning balance was $4,690.61 with deposits of $352.00. Checks paid out were $296.73 leaving a bank balance of $4745.88. There was 1 outstanding check written to the Wounded Warrior Project for $100.00. There was a motion for approval and seconded.

Del also mentioned that we still need someone to step up and be responsible for the BMC website, and in the mean time Dennis Harvat was helping with it from California.

Upcoming events.

Gary talked about the McDonalds cruise-In which will be on September 10th at the Leestown Road McDonalds. Due to past situations with the weather, this will be rain or shine or horse trailer. There will be plenty of flyers to pass out at the Somerset show on the 27th. Del asked how many planned to attend and there were lots of hands that went up. There will be lots and lots of door prizes and there will also be a silent auction.

Steve mentioned that the club had an invitation to be in the EKU Homecoming parade on October 22nd. There will be no limit on cars and so that Gary can rest easy, we will be ahead of the horses. Also there will be no cost. More information will be coming soon.

Dads & Grads committee update was presented. It was decided to establish a media committee to improve our promotion of the Dads & Grads. Del stressed that anyone who so desired could be a member of the committee. Just show an interest and go to the meetings.

Dave Link then brought everyone up to speed on the Dads & Grads. The first item was the 10x20 tent for the show next year which has sides and is collapsible in case of rain, and secondly a tub to store the tent that we have now that was donated by Mr. Greer. It was also presented the need for new Dads & Grads banners, which it was strongly hinted that there were certain times of the year that there might be access to Valvoline equipment that could make those for us. The show will also be rain or shine in order to remove any confusion that was evident in previous shows. There will be no preregistration any more since very few utilized it any way, and the show fee will be $20.00 instead of $15.00. The next committee meeting will be Wednesday October 5th at 6:30 at Dels house.

Del followed up with the fact that we have not bought a tent yet. The committee was charged with the task to gather the info and bring it back to the club. It was decided that we did not need to buy tables, but needed to deal with the logistics with the transportation of the tables. The main focus was on the tent and a storage container for the tent that we have now. After further investigation on the new tent, it would cost anywhere from $500.00 to $1,000.00. It appears that a tent that will satisfy our needs could run around $750.00. There were some questions and discussion about the tent, and it was decided that the committee would gather the information and bring a recommendation to the club at the October meeting. A motion was made and seconded to bring back info on a tent with a price range of $1,000.00 and $1,500.00.

New business:

Membership update. Fred stated that at the present we have 119 members, and over the last month we have dropped 6 for nonpayment of dues.

Somerset Cruise on August 27th. The Mustang will be the featured car. We took 15 cars down last year as a caravan, and the Mustangs set a record last year. There was 478 Mustangs at the show and they ran out of spots for the stampede of Stangs. It was decided that we as a club would participate. There will be an email sent out with the particulars.

The next item was with the departure of Dennis Harvat, there is an open position on the BOD. It was decided that there needed to be a replacement for the rest of his term. It was decided to have the next vote getter in the election would replace Dennis. There was a tie in the votes so we will have a runoff election between the next two which are Anthony Eldridge and Lorna Galick. The ballots were passed out and completed by the club members present. It was also decided that a mass email would be sent to the club so that those not present could also vote, and there would be a 7 day time limit.

The next item up for discussion was the charities of the club. Del then reviewed the process from previous years.  For 2012 it was decided to put it to the club to see if we wanted to keep the same charities or change.  A motion was made for everyone to think about it and the decision would be made at the next club meeting. Motion was seconded.

The next meeting of the BMC will be September 13th.

Meeting adjourned

July 2011 Meeting

The July 2011 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:10 pm by President Del Mercier with 39 present.  We had 5 first time visitors, John and Shanda Hose` and they have a 1993 GT and a 2004.They looked for a Mustang club in Kentucky and BMC was the first on the list so they came to the meeting. There was also JR Rowe and his wife Linda. They have a 2007 GT and a 2007 Shelby GT 500. Also John Wurtele (a previous member) and he has just a few Mustangs. He has a 66 coupe, a 68 coupe, a 96 GT, a 2001 Bullitt with 400 miles on it, an 85 cobra with 11,000 miles on it, and a 2005 that his son inherited. He has a whole herd in his stable.  Also for the first time, Sandy Statom from Danville and she has a 2010. She also found us on the internet.

The next item was the recognition of our sponsors for the Dads & Grads show.

First up was Bryan Palmer with S&S Tire. He has been a supporter of the Dads & Grads show for at least 3 to 4 years. We, as well as our charities are very thankful for his support. He was presented with a plaque, a Dads & Grads T-shirt, and a dash plaque.

The next sponsor, new this year, was Jeff Lowery from Carquest. He also was presented with a plaque, a Dads & Grads T-shirt and a dash Plaque. Thanks for your support and we look forward to your support for years to come.

The next sponsor was to be Larry Oldham from Wildcat Ford, but there was a family emergency so Matt Moore, the GSM of Wildcat Ford stepped in for Larry. This is Wildcats first year as supporter for the show and we appreciate their involvement.  The June meeting minutes were approved as recorded.

Next was the Finance report presented by Howard.
The beginning balance was $3,508.95, with deposits of $3,304.00. Checks paid for $2,122.34 and an ending bank balance of $4,690.61. Some of the larger deposits made during the month were Paul Miller Ford for $500.00, Carquest for $500.00, Wildcat Ford for $500.00, Coachcraft for $50.00, and we had show day proceeds for $1,053.00.

A summary of show expenses and proceeds is as follows.

Sponsorship income was $3,153.00

Total revenue of $4,513.00

Total expenses of $1,783.00

Net proceeds of $2,730.00 (about a thousand dollars more than last year)

The finance report was approved as read.

Old Business:

Events participated in by the club. Fred was up first. The wounded Warrior tour stopped at Crossroad Ford in Frankfort on June 25th. There were 35 cars from the Frankfort Mustang club, the Falls City Mustang club, and BMC. We met Col. Folsom (USMC Ret) who is on a nationwide tour in a Shelby GT-500 and is visiting each and every State Capitol. Fred gave the Col. A BMC decal which he promptly put on his windshield. We all got the opportunity to sign out names on the Mustang showing our support. Fred then suggested that BMC make a donation to the wounded Warrior foundation.  This foundation assists wounded military and their families as they recuperate. A motion was made and seconded that BMC donate $100.00 to the wounded Warrior Foundation. A vote was taken and passed.

Membership report. We picked up 2 new members at the Dads & Grads, and we picked up 2 new members from the Kain Ford program which puts BMC at 126 memberships.

Dads & Grads report: The BOD met and the biggest things discussed were the show would be rain or shine next year. There will be no rain date that will be advertized from the start.  Dave Link gave a report. Dave mentioned that we owe Valvoline a huge thank you for their support. They really went above and beyond for the show.

Other items were that there will be no re-registration any more; our registration fee will go to $20.00, change the judging sheets, and we were challenged by Del that we should invest some of the proceeds of the show in the club and next year’s show. The biggest need is for a new tent. This years was too small so there was lots of stuff that couldn't be put out. Plus with the weather stuff wasn't protected properly. Also get Dads & Grads banners, and on the fliers promote more on what the prizes are to bolster interest. Also decide if we are keeping the same charities or choose new ones.

There were 33 cars judged and the silent auction brought in $422.00.  A big thank you to all that helped with the silent auction. The parking went well and the noodles worked real well.

Another item brought up was having shelters for the parking guides. They really got soaked. It was also mentioned how much of a benefit it was to have a trailer to put things in the night before. That is something that is a must if we are going to do the show rain or shine.

There was further discussion about investing some of the proceeds of the show back into the club and the Dads & Grads. The #1 item for discussion was purchasing a 10 X 20 tent. If it is done right, a 10 X 20 easy up tent with side curtains will cost around $400.00. It would be a good investment that will last for years.

The second item is the banners for the entrance that would say Dads & Grads which wouldn't cost much but would greatly help the visibility of the show.

Another item would be a tub to put the tent in to protect it.

The expenditure would have to be a club decision. It was proposed that the club empower the BOD to investigate into options for investment that will be brought back to the club for discussion. The motion was made and seconded.

The Keenland Concourse De Elegance was talked about as a upcoming event on Saturday and setting up a meeting place for the club to meet and drive to Keenland together.  It was decided to meet at Palomar at 8:00. Also it was mentioned to donate to the UK Children’s hospital. 100% of the funds donated go to the hospital. A motion was made to donate $100.00 from the club and seconded.

Next discussed was the Jack Kain Ford cruise-in on July 23rd. The time will be from 10:00 to 3:00 and there will be burgers and hotdogs served. They have been a good supporter of BMC and the Dads & Grads. The club presentation of the Dads & Grads plaque will be presented to Jack Kain at 1:00.

It was next discussed about plans for the 30th anniversary picnic on Sunday at Jacobson Park. No one at this point had stepped up and volunteered to chair the picnic. The club would pick up the Chicken and the cake. Everyone else would bring a dish to pass. A head count was taken and a motion was made to have the picnic, and seconded.

The McDonald's fall cruise-in was discussed next. Gary Galick talked about the cruise-in and started with the warning that anything that he plans usually gets rained on, snowed out or blown away. So it has been decided that this one will be rain or shine. There were flyers for distribution and coupons on the flyer.  The Ice Man will be there, door prizes, some silent auction items, and a 50/50 raffle. Gary asked the club to get the word out to other clubs. It will be something special, come join us.

Charities. Do we do the same, or change the charities for 2011. A motion was made to discuss it at the next club meeting and was loudly seconded.

The next meeting will be on August 9th.

Del also suggested that everyone take some flyers for the show and drop them off wherever you go to promote the show. Del also mentioned that we need to look at raising the price of the show next year since it was too low. Our price when compared with other shows was too cheap, so we need to look at raising our price next year. We are also looking at more commercial advertisement. Next Item on the agenda was the Shakertown trip. Del explained that the road rally was still a work in progress, but he needed to finalize how many were coming. The money had to get to Howard for the meal and the optional tour by tonight. A head count was done and we had enough for the minimum reservations needed. Everyone will be gathering at 9:30 Saturday morning to start the rally. Del then explained the basics of the rally. An email will go out with the final directions.

The next item was shop day and that was passed to Fred.  The date is April the 23rd, and the doors open at 10 o’clock rain or shine. No breakfast served.

Next item was the Dad’s & Grads and it is generally felt that we are moving along real well.  The emphasis was on sponsorships and advertisement.  It appears that financially we are there.  As Del said, we have baked the cake, now we just have to get the icing on it. The floor was then given to Dave for more info. He stated that we had received $500.00 from Paul Miller, $500.00 from Wildcat Ford, and $300.00 from Kain Ford. There are others who will be making sponsorship donations but we don’t know how much yet. VIOC will be paying for the trophies this year which is a great assistance to the Dads & Grads.  The money part has been pretty well covered, so Del encouraged everyone to go to businesses that they frequent and ask for items that can be used for the silent auction etc. Dave also mentioned that we have a need of tables for the show.

Last item on the agenda was Anthony talking about the apparel order. He stated that he had contacted the lady that Karen had told him about for information, and she had not gotten back in contact with him yet. He had also been in contact with Fayette Graphics which has no shipping charges for anything that they do. Prices are pretty much the same with no minimum order. The setup fee is $30.00 one time.

For anyone who is interested in ordering anything see Anthony after the meeting.

The door prizes were a bag for each member of the club to pick up as they left the meeting.

There was $240.00 deposited today foe dues which included $120.00 from Kain Ford for 6 new members who purchased Mustangs there. This puts the account at $2,290.00 to date with some more membership dues to be added.. It was mentioned that there were supposed to be 3 donations of $500.00 and Dan informed us that $500.00 cleared in November.

The Treasurers report was approved as read.

By way of explanation of the $100.00 gift cards, they were given to Dan Abner and Roy Mundy who both spent a significant amount of time in the past years. We wanted to recognize their efforts.

Old Business:
Christmas party. Karen Fitzgerald gave a report on the Christmas party. She expressed her thanks for the assistance of the committee, Caren Beatty, Lorna and Gary Galick, Donna and Steve Lazarra, Cynthia and Dennis Harvat, and Becky Mercier who helped with making this party a success. From comments given a fun time was had by all. Everyone survived the gift exchange without having to call 911. It was common consensus that everyone liked the room, and if we want to use it again, we would need to reserve it soon to be put on the schedule.

It was discussed next if we wanted to use the same spot for the party next year. It was voted on and approved to go ahead and reserve it for the 1st Saturday in December which would be the 3rd.

Next item was the three thank you letters from the Charities which was sent to everyone by way of email.

Next item was the membership update presented by Fred. The present membership total is 101 total family memberships. There were 13 dropped for nonpayment of dues, and 5 have been added back. Out of the 101 members, 27 are paid MCA members.

Fred also mentioned about having a shop day in April. Either the 16th or the 23rd, and for those who have not seen it yet, you get to see the infamous “Garage Mahal”

Fred also circulated a membership list to verify email addresses and phone numbers.

Next item was the unfortunate passing of Mr Greer. Fred commented on meeting Mr Greer back in 1980 while Fred was working on his own car at a place called Auto Sports. Mr Greer shortly joined the club and did countless things most were not aware of. He will be greatly missed.

Fred then made a motion that the club make a donation to the Nich Dieruf foundation. It was decided to do $100.00, the motion seconded, and unanimously passed. Nich was Mr Greer's Grandson who died while serving in Afghanistan several years back. There was then a hat passed for donations to be added to the $100.00 that will be donated by the club.

Next item is Anthony will be taking over the apparel orders from Karen.

Docs Mustang is being located behind Dream Machines body shop where many BMC members have had work done. The ownership is now Doug Palmer and his son Wayne Palmer, and once they officially open, they want to have an Open House for us to come to.

Steve Lazrra mentioned that he could not work with the existing BGMC application for new members, so he will have to redo it. When it is done it will go out to everyone in an email so they can be printed off and used by everyone.

Steve also mentioned that with the popularity of networking sites, it would be a good way to get out information. Many people have Facebook accounts and it was discovered they BMC already had an account on Facebook. It was asked how many were Facebook users, and there were many members who had accounts.

There was another item with regards to our membership list on the BMC website. There was some concern or question of the value of that being on the site. It was suggested that the membership list be put in a protected area where only members could reach it. Dennis said that he would look into it.

Dads & Grads meeting will be scheduled at Dels house for 7:00 pm on January 25th. In the past, the BOD and the officers were the core of the Dads & Grads planning committee. November 2010 Meeting

Call to Order
The November meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order by President Roy Mundy at 7:30pm with 28 present.

Secretary's Report
The minutes from the October meeting were read and approved as read.

Treasurer's Report
The treasurers report was read by President Roy Mundy due the the fact that Treasurer Dan Abner was not there. The report is as follows.

The beginning balance for November 1 was $5,035.10 in the bank, with deposits of $100.00 for dues paid. We paid out 2 checks, one for $15.90 to Howard Fitzgerald for car show copy costs, and 1 for $374.00 for apparel costs. That leaves an ending balance of $4,745.20. One correction to a previous amount approved was that the $25.00 for the Christmas parade was changed to $50.00 due to the fact that even though that we are a non profit organization, we are a 501C7 organization, and the parade organizers only recognize a 501C3 organization as non profit. Here are two checks outstanding, 1 for $50.00 for the Christmas parade, and 1 for $800.00 for the new t-shirts voted on last meeting. With $850.00 outstanding, that leaves us a book balance of $3,895.20. If we want to leave a balance of $2,000.00 in the account, we would have approximately $1,895.00.  Another expense that will occur before the end of the year, is the $300.00 for the Christmas party. So that leaves $1,500.00 for our 3 charities, and still maintain the desired $2,000.00 in the account.

The Treasurers report was accepted and seconded.

Old Business
Karen Fitzgerald mentioned that there was a need for volunteers to stay after the Christmas party and help clean up. Karen further stated that she will be sending out an email invitation to everyone. The food will be potluck but the meat , Ham ,Turkey, Shrimp, and meat balls will be furnished by the club. There will be a need of salads, desserts, and vegetables. Bread, soft drinks and coffee will be furnished. Just bring a dish to pass and yourself, and be prepared to have a good time. It will be held at Central Bank in Nicholasville, and there will be directions to the Bank from Wildcat Ford sent out by email. Also do not forget about the gift exchange. There will be a gift exchange, swap, steal, take away. The gift brought should not exceed $20.00. Numbers are drawn, and in order, you get to pick out a gift from under the tree. All gifts are wrapped so that you don't know what you are getting until opening the gift. There is a take away option, and if you get a really good gift, and someone after you likes it they can swap with you. Thankfully there was no blood shed last year, and fun was had by all.

Rick Baker reported on the Veterans day parade. There were 8 cars, with 4 of the 5 generations of the Mustang. A great representation for the Mustang and the Club.

Gary Galick reported that he and Lorna just got back from SEMA, with Lorna stating that she will not walk that far again. SEMA is the largest show, and it looked like Ford owned the place. They had Mustangs spinning and blowing tires, and Raptors jumping 8ft dirt piles. All major car manufacturers were there. One of the highlights was that Ford was giving away a new BOSS Mustang, and also with it was giving a 1970 Boss to drive on the days that you didn't want to drive the new one. It was a wild time.

Karen Mundy mentioned that they will be drawing for the White 1965 Mustang convertible on Tuesday November 16th at noon at the Lexington Bluegrass Association of Realtors. Only 498 tickets have been sold, so the opportunity to win it is very good.

New Business
The Christmas parade was discussed, and with the limitation of 10 cars, it was felt that there may be more that 10 people who would want to be in the parade. It was decided to have a first come, first served drawing to determine who would be in the parade. Those who were interested in being in the parade were asked to email Rick Bate, and the first 10 emails would be in the parade. Since there was only 1 email, and 1 request at the meeting, it was asked for a show of hands of those who wanted to be in the Christmas Parade. We ended up getting a total of 8 in the parade. Del had the sign up sheet, so whoever was going to be in the parade come up and sign the sheet. Meet at Eastland shopping center at 4:30 and we will leave as a group for the parade. An email with final information will go out to those in the parade.

The next item was the election of Officers and BOD for 2011. Those present will be voting by ballot for the new officers, and BOD, and those not present will be sent ballots so they can vote by email until 1 December. The results will be announced at the Christmas party.

Theere was a motion brought by Becky Mercier, to go ahead and write the checks to the club charities for $500.00 each. The motion was seconded and approved by the club. This will be mentioned to Dan, and he will cut the checks.

Del Mercier presented the possibility of changing the meeting time from 7:30 to 7:00 due to the fact that Wildcat Ford closes at 9:00 and we have bumped up against that time when our meeting went a little longer than usual. It was put in a form of a motion, seconded, and approved by a vote of the club. As of January 2011 the meeting will start at 7:00.

The door prizes were as follows:

  1. Rick Bate

  2. Harry Overtoom

  3. Fred Barkley

  4. Rhonda Eldridge

  5. Kyle Dart

The meeting was ajourned.

October 2010 Meeting

Call to Order
The October 2010 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:30pm by President Roy Mundy with 31 present.

Secretary's Report
The notes from the September club meeting were read and approved as read.

Treasurer's Report
The Treasurers report for the month of September is as follows. There was a beginning balance of $5,156.88 with deposits of $1,006.00. There were checks paid fort a total of $1,068.38. Those checks were $300.00 to the Ice Man for the cruise-in at the Leestown Rd. McDonalds, $468.38 reimbursement to Fred Barkley for items discussed last meeting. A replacement check to the Mundys of $300.00 for the Christmas party. This gives an ending bank balance of $5,035.10 Since month end there a couple of checks outstanding There is a check to Howard Fitzgerald for copy costs for the car show of $15.90, and there is a check to the company that does our apparel for $374.00. That gives total outstanding of $389.90 and when you subtract that from the ending bank balance for September, that gives us $4,645.20 in the bank. There was also an electronic withdrawal come through our bank statement for $59.40 for our annual web hosting cost. This comes out of the account every September.

The Treasurers report was read and approved as read.

Old Business
Rick Baker gave a report on the article on the BMC in the Mustang Magazine. We want to thank Dennis Harvat and Debbie Monbeck for supplying the photos used in the article. The magazine wanted 3 pages for the article. A lot of the shots were duplicates, but there was a good spread of vehicles. There is extra copies of the magazine for those who desire one. Rick also stated that there might be a possibility of putting stories about club members cars in the magazine.

Next item is that there is a need for someone to take over the position of apparel manager in place of Karen Fitzgerald. Those interested, please let us know.

Roy then talked about the BOD meeting that occurred the night before. We basically critiqued the Dads & Grads car show. The location, the Dyno, the displays and the quality of cars. The BOD looked at what things could we do better. Another thing discussed was that we probably got started later promoting the show than previous years, and also there was less contributed because of the economy.

We are starting earlier this year, and we need some folks from the club who are willing to help get the word out to our vendors about the show. There will be letter to mail out and possibly some phone calls to be made. We need to have a goal of by years end having the contacts made and solicitations done. The reason for the goal of before the end of the year is that potential contributors are doing their budgets for 2011 now, and we need to let them know about our show early enough to get in their budget.

Even with the rain date, the ultimate grade for the Dads & Grads show for 2010 is a A.

New Business
The next item of business is the new t-shirts. When people join the club, one of the things that they get is a club t-shirt. We have run out of club t-shirts for a while. We have 29 folks who have joined the club and have not received their t-shirts. Most of that number is a result of the partnership with Jack Kain Ford who pays for a membership to BMC for everyone who buys a Mustang. We know that we can get t-shirts for about $7.60 each, and the question is can we get one as good that is cheaper.? It was also mentioned and the BOD meeting, that instead of mailing out the t-shirts that we send them an email inviting them to a meeting, and when you come we have a packet for them which includes a t-shirt, magazine and other things. That would give them a chance to come to a meeting to meet us and us meet them.

Fred made the motion was made to allot $800.00 towards the purchase of the t-shirts and it was seconded. The club voted and it was passed. The shirt will have a small logo on the front, and a large print of the same logo on the back.

Another item discussed at the BOD meeting was the charities that we would be contributing to. It was decided to stay with the 3 charities that we already had. Those were the Make a Wish Foundation, Kentucky Riding for Hope and the Boy Scout troop. It was suggested that the charitable committee would meet after the first of the year and submit new options for charities for 2011.

We also received an application for participation in this years Lexington Christmas parade. There has been some reservation in the past due to the cost issue and the limitation of cars allowed to participate.

The issue seems to be partially remedied. Effective this year a non profit organization cost to participate in the parade is $25.00. The limit is still 10 vehicles allowed from the club to be in the parade. The recommendation is that the club be in the Christmas parade, and that the club would pay the $25.00 entry fee, and those wishing to be in the parade ( 1 car per family ) send an email to Rick Bate and their names will be put into a hat and names drawn at the next meeting. Those at the meeting who also want to be included in the drawing could add their names into the hat. The first 10 drawn will be in the parade, and there will be a couple of alternates. The parade date will be on Friday November the 26th at 5:30pm.

Gary reported on the road rally cruise in Frankfort. Everyone met at the Kmart parking lot at Versailles at 4:00 and due to the fact that Gary forgot the list of people of people who were supposed to come. But all worked out. The road trip was good, and Wilshires was great. Fun was had by all.

Fred reported on the Frankfort rally. As Fred so amicably put it, “ It was one Hell of a day'” There was 5 different clubs involved, 104 cars and about 165 people. There was 104 Mustangs on a 40 mile cruise through the back roads. It was really nice. There was lots of positive feedback on the show.

Rick Baker informed us that November 7th is the date of the Veterans Day parade. We are limited to 5 cars in the parade. Rick sent an email to the lady who was in charge of the parade requesting that we have 10 cars in the parade since there were others who had more that 5 last year. Anyone who wants to be in the parade send Rick Baker an email. Del suggested that the first spots be allocated to the vets of the club.

Roy also brought up that this next weekend will be the Boonesborough Boogie Nationals for those who might be interested.

Steve also mentioned that the Summernites would be occurring in the 23rd of October.

Karen restated that there was a possibility of having the Christmas party at Central bank in Nicholasville and there is no charge for the room. It would be a pot luck format. The date would be December the 4th, the first Saturday in December and it would be at 6:00. The motion was made and seconded. The club would be providing a Turkey and a Ham, and the cost reimbursed up to $300.00.

It was also mentioned that there needed to be a committee to decorate, and the decision will be made at the next meeting.

The next item on the agenda was the taking of nominations for officers and Board members for 2011.

Nominations will be taken today, and use the rest of this month to notify the rest of the club to say if you want to submit to Rick Bate nominations for officers and BOD for 2011, you can do so by email. Then at the next meeting the nominations will be presented for all positions. A vote will be taken from those present at the meeting and an electronic vote will be taken for those not present during the month of November. The results will be announced at the Christmas party.

The floor was then opened for nominations for President. The first nomination was made by Dennis Harvat of Gary Galick. Gary said that he would love to but due to other time constraints, he declined.

Steve Lazarra then nominated Roy Mundy, but Roy felt that there were other areas that he needed to focus and he declined also.

Steve Lazarra was also asked but declined.

Del Mercier was also asked and said that he would think about it, so he was conditionally added to the ballot.

There were no other nominations for President at this time.

Nominations for Vice President were then taken.

Gary Galick was nominated (By Lorna) and Gary accepted. Lorna also stated that if she lived that long she would help Gary.

There were no further nominations for Vice President.

Nominations were taken for Secretary.

The club hadn't had enough punishment yet, so Rick was nominated for secretary again. The nomination was accepted.

Also nominated was Rhonda Trombley and she accepted.

There were no other nominations for Secretary.

Nominations for treasurer.

Dan Abner was nominated again for Treasurer. He declined due to #1 having been treasurer for the last 3 years, and time constraints at his employment, and family responsibilities.

There were no other nominations for treasurer at this time.

The nominations for the Board of Directors were as follows.

Steve Lazarra
Lorna Galick
Dennis Harvat
Dave Link
Gayle Freeman
Fred Barkley
Anthony Eldridge
Howard Fitzgerald
William Beatty
Roy Mundy

The door prize winners were as follows:

Anthony Eldridge

The meeting was adjourned at 845pm.

September 2010 Meeting

Call to Order
The September 2010 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:30pm by President Roy Mundy with 36 present. We had 2 new members present by the name of Donald and Margaret Walker. Glad to have them as new members of the Bluegrass mustang Club. We had 1 visitor by the name of Joshua Garrett. Welcome to the meeting.

Secretary's Report
The notes from the August club meeting were read and approved. The notes were taken by Dennis Harvat while I was in the hospital. Thanks a lot Dennis.

The Treasurers Report
For the August bank statement, there was a beginning balance of $5,199.88 in the account. We had deposits of $232.00, with 1 check clearing to Mike Taylor after the fire at his home for the amount of $275.00. This was money collected at the Dads & Grads show for this purpose. That gave us an ending balance in the bank statement of $5,156.88. Since the cutoff of the statement, and some activity that has taken place in the month of September, there has been one deposit of $364.00, $300.00 of that was from McDonalds for the cruise in at Leestown road to pay for the Iceman. There was a reimbursement check for Fred for $468.38. What this was for was #1. window decals for a total of $286.85 for 250 decals. The additional $181.00 was for new member kits for several new members from Jack Kain.

Taking all this into consideration, that gives us a book balance of $4,752.50. There will be an expenditure pretty soon which will be a purchase of some new T-shirts for the new members that we owe shirts to because we were out of t-shirts. Our best cost so far is $10.00 per shirt, and we need to make a decision on how much we are going to spend. Most of our income has been realized for this calendar year, and we don't have a whole lot of people that will be paying dues. We will be spending more than we will be taking in.

It was asked about the charitable donations, and after the shirts are ordered, and we look at the other expenditures that are upcoming. Then we will look at the final number, and we will decide what will go to the charities.

There were no corrections or deletions, and the treasurers report was approved and seconded.

Old Business
Fred then talked about the MCA elections of the Board of directors, and encouraged all MCA members to send in their ballots.

Fred also talked about the Virginia Beach MCA National show where they had about 370 judged cars. The show was great, but Fred said the Hotel Stunk!!!!!!!

Two weeks before that they went to the National Show at the Biltmore House in North Carolina. Up on the TV screen was a sampling of the 1,400 pictures that Debra took. There were 469 judged cars The grounds were beautiful, and the weather was perfect.

Del Mercier then reported on the Mid Summer Nites cruise. There was 21 cars that went from BMC, although lost one due to alternator problems. There was 464 Mustangs at the show, with 1,200 plus cars total. A good time was enjoyed by all.

Gary Galick talked about the Leestown Rd. Cruise-in, even though he wanted to cry about the condition of his car by the time they arrived. The rainy weather probably limited the turnout, although there was 27 cars that showed up.

New Business
Upcoming events. The Wilshire cruise will be Saturday the 25th of September. The Gathering point will be in Versailles at the K Mart parking lot at 4 o'clock, and then travel back roads to Wilshires in Georgetown. October 15th, 16th, and 17th will be the Boonesborough Boogie which is always a big event.

Karen Fitzgerald brought up that there is only 2 more meetings before the Christmas party. The last 2 years it has been held at the home of Roy and Karen Mundy. Karen reported that she had found a place in Nicholasville that would be a good place to have it, and give Roy and Karen a break. At Central bank they have a great room to have the party. Another great thing is there is no charge to use the room, so Karen put her name on the list to possibly reserve the room. It is up to the club to decide if they want to utilize this option. It will be decided the next meeting.

Dennis reminded everyone that at the October meeting nominations are taken for club officers, and board of directors for the new year. The nominations are printed on ballots and the voting is done at the November meeting. The new elected officers and board members are then announced at the Christmas party.

Rick Baker also announced that we had received an invitation to participate in the Veteran's Day parade in November.  More infromation to follow.

Roy recognized new member Kyle Dart, who recently moved from Michigan.  Kyle has a 66 Mustang coupe which is still in Michigan.  Roy also recognized visitors Gary & Jeannie Grider from the Frankfort Mustang Club and Tyler Babcock whose mother drives a green 2002 Mustang.

Due to the above mentioned absences there was not a formal Secretary’s Report or a Treasurer’s report.  Roy indicated that Dan had indicated that proceeds from Dads & Grads 2010 topped $1,700 and the current balance in the BMC checkbook was just over $5,000.

July 2010 Meeting

June 2010 Meeting

The June 2010 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:30 pm by President Roy Mundy with 39 present. We had no first time visitors, but had a first time in a long time with the attendance of Dwayne Riddell. Good to have him back with us.

Secretary's Report:
The minutes from the May 2010 meeting was read and approved as read.

Treasurers Report:
We had a beginning balance of $2,331.73, deposits for the month of $944.00, which included $200.00 from Kain Ford, National Parts Depot was $200.00, $300.00 from McDonalds for the cost of the DJ at the Cruise-in. The remainder was from car flag sales and membership renewals.

That makes an ending balance of $2,829.13 with 1 check still outstanding of $300.00 from the Christmas party.

The Treasurers report was approved as read.

New Business:
Roy announced a website that everyone could go to to find out about any cruise-ins that were happening. It is the
www.cruisenightpage.com which has a listing of everything going on.

Roy threw out the question of the clubs involvement in the 4th of July parade in downtown Lexington. The club had not been involved in the past due to the fee charged ($50.00), also there was a limit of only 6 cars. The Realtors Housing foundation has purchased a 1965 Mustang convertible that they will be raffling off throughout the summer with the goal of raising funds for the foundation to assist in putting in wheelchair ramps for folks who cannot afford one, weatherizes homes for the needy, and repairs homes for those who cannot afford to have the work done. Typically elderly people. We have attached the Mustang Club to this only in the fact that we wanted the Mustang club to be part of the celebration. The logo of the Mustang Club will be on the banner, but have no obligation to this, no money invested, just a moral obligation that if anyone knows someone who will buy a raffle tickets, you will spread the word. The car will be at car shows during the summer to facilitate selling raffle tickets, and we want to get the car in as many events as possible to maximize exposure. The housing foundation will be putting the car in the 4th of of July parade and we have 5 openings for cars to be in the parade. The parade will be on Saturday July 3rd at 2 o'clock. First come first served if you are interested in participating.

Roy mentioned several shows that were coming up this weekend, and encouraged those that could to attend and pass out flyers for the Dads & Grads.

Steve did a report stating that there was a meeting in the Valvoline parking lot to get the layout set up. He also explained where everything was going to be positioned and the traffic flow.

Please give Steve and Gary a big thanks for their HUGE participation in getting Valvoline support for the Dads & Grads car show.

Fred gave a report on the National MCA Show in Oklahoma City Ok. Seeing how that Fred is a sworn in official, complete with a badge, I guess that we have to double his salary. Also Fred got a 1st place trophy. Good job Fred.

Roy also mentioned that Karen had a supply of flags and hats in stock and for sale. Anyone wanting to purchase, see Karen after the meeting.

The door prize winners are as follows:

#1. Howard Fitzgerald
#2. Mark Lindsey
#3. Debbie Monbeck
#4. Joey Trombley

May 2010 Meeting

The May 2010 Meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang Club was call to order at 7:30pm by President Roy Mundy with 33 present. We had 1 visitor by the name of Tony Coulter. He owns a 2006 Mustang V6.  All be sure to welcome him to the meeting.

Secretary's Report:
The Minutes from the April 2010 meeting were read and approved as read.

Roy received and read a card from the Greer Family thanking us for our sympathy and love shown to the family after the passing of Mrs. Greer.

The Treasurers Report:
Firstly we were informed that the $100.00 check that the club approved to be donated to Mr. Greers charity was written, sent, and had cleared.

Beginning balance for the month of April reporting period, the beginning balance was $2,816.41, with deposits of $370.00. Checks clearing were a total of $864.68 leaving an ending balance of $2,331.73

The outstanding checks are as follows. #1. $61.80 to Fred Barkley, $300.00 to the Ice Man for $300.00, Nicholasville Florist for $84.80 and a Christmas party check for $300.00 for a total of $746.60. We have deposits received but not but not posted to the bank of $422.00 which gives a book balance of $2,007.13.

The treasurers report was approved and seconded.

Events Report:
Gary gave a report on the Cruise-in that was held at the Leestown Rd. McDonalds. In spite of the weather there was 64 people that attended and 45 cars. Fun was had by all.

It was mentioned that Karen had a supply of the new flags for $12.00.

Fred reported that he had visited with Bob Kain at Kain Ford, and he was very appreciative of our support, and they are excited about having us at their dealership on July 31st for the show and shine. When Fred left, Mr. Kain presented him with a $200.00 check.

Dads & Grads:
Roy reiterated the two locations RJ Cormans, and Valvoline that wanted to host the show, and that we had decided to utilize Valvoline World headquarters. Steve and Gary have been tremendous in leading this process. Also in setting up the food venders and getting a Dyno for the show. The Dyno people will be bringing a race car, and there will be a contest. For $1.00 you can guess the horsepower, and the closest will get the pot. There will also possibly be a Valvoline race car for everyone to see.

The financial situation is we have $2,200.00 toward the show. If things go as usual, we usually have 6 to 8 major sponsors come forward and support the show, but the funds have not come in this year. We need to make phone calls and work on getting the support needed. Roy reissued the call to the club members to get involved with the fund raising. We still have 5 weeks to go out and raise more support.

It was also brought up that if you couldn't get cash, we still need items for the silent auction. The silent auction last year raised $550.00.

There were signup sheets and all were encouraged to sign up for an activity to help with.

The door prize winners were as follows:
        Earlene Prokapec
        Stuart Ecton
        Dan Abner
        Tim Evans

Meeting was adjourned.

April 2010 Meeting

Call to Order:
The April 2010 meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:30pm by President Roy Mundy with 36 present. We had 1 visitor present by the name of Bob Wigginton. Be sure to welcome him to the meeting tonight.

Secretary's Report:
The previous meeting's minutes were not read due to the secretary not having them with him.

The Treasurers Report:
The beginning balance for the month of March was $2717.41 with deposits of $99.00 and a ending balance of $2816.41. We have 3 outstanding checks for $818.65. 1 check was for the car flags for $492.25, postage check for mailings for the car show $26.40, and an outstanding check for the Christmas party for $300.00. When you take away the outstanding items from the bank balance, we have a book balance of $1,997.76. The form 990N has been posted with the IRS, and the filing has been accepted and we are good to go for another year on our tax exempt status.  The treasurers report was approved and seconded.

Old Business:

#1. Car Flags. Roy expressed his appreciation to Rick Bate, Debbie Monback, and Karen Fitzgerald for working together to make the new antenna flags a reality. The flags cost $10.00, and we have decided to sell them for $12.00 with the 2 extra dollars for items for the club. See Karen Fitzgerald to purchase your new flag.

#2. Banner flag: Rick Bate reported on the big banner flag. It is 8ft tall and 24in wide. It will be on a 10ft pole with a base for a car tire to set on to hold in place. It has the Bluggrass Mustang club on it with the Club logo in the middle. It will be ready for the next meeting.

#3. Letters were sent to all the local Ford dealers introducing a program where the dealers would buy a Bluegrass Mustang Club membership for 1 year for all who purchased a new or used Mustang. Our commitment to them would be we would take that new customer into the fold and if they want to become a Mustang enthusiast, that we will aide them in doing so. The letters went out last month and we have already been contacted by Kain Ford, and they are excited to participate in the program. Fred and Roy will make the rounds and get the paperwork to them to implement the program, and also solicit contributions for the Dads and Grads show. Kain Ford would like to have usfor s cuuise in at their dealer on July 31 for a big sale. They also commitied that anyone who would like to join BMC while we are there, they would pay for the membership.

#4. The last meeting, the ICE man came and talked about the Ice Pack car show which will be this Saturday at Boonesborough park in Richmond. He specifically asked us to support the show. He also indicated that if we did support the show that they would refund a certain amount of the registration fee back to BMC. He also said that he would share his data base so that we could use that to promote our show. Roy asked for a show of hands of those who were planning on attending Saturday, and passed out the registrations so that they could be filled out and returned at the end of the meeting.

Roy asked Gary to go over coming events that he and Steve had been working on. He had a presentation of flyers, bag stuffers, and posters for the cruise-in on McDonalds cruise-in on Leestown Rd. There were copies of all flyers up front, and Roy asked all to take some and distribute them.

Car show update:

There have been a couple meetings of the car show committee. Anyone who is interested in being on the committee, they are welcome. Letters have been sent out to those who were involved in the past, soliciting money and door prizes, and we are starting to get responses back on that. The committee has also visited the Valvoline site and worked on the logistics of the setup. Dave Link has come up with tables and chairs. Everything is really starting to come together. Roy also reminded everyone that he is requesting that each family commit to come up with a $100.00 donation from people that you deal with every day. Any funds will need to be gotten to Dan Abner. If we can do this, the show needs will be taken care of.

A question was asked what it usually cost to put on the show? Roy deferred to Dennis Harvat, and he stated that it usually runs about $3,000.00. We were reminded that we were just 2 meetings away from the show. A question was asked if we knew anything more about the Dyno. They need 10 up front payments. Steve was checking into another source for a plan B. He was advised to go for it and get the particulars from them. The plan is still to try to have a Dyno for the show..

A question was asked about who to contact for booth space. Rick Bate will be the contact person to register for booth space for the venders. The prices will be $25.00 for a 10X10, and $35.00 for a 10X12.

Dave Link made a plea for assistance in soliciting prizes previously. He reminded us that the funds received were going to the 3 charities, Ky. Riding for Hope, Make a wish foundation, and a Boy Scout Troop, and that the contributions were tax deductible. All help will be very appreciated.

New Business:

Fred brought up the fact that we have 52 T-shirts that have the Cole Ford info on it. On the club applications, we promise each new member a new T-shirt, and we do not want to give them a T with Cole Ford on it since they are no longer in business. It was suggested that we donate them to a mission group that would distribute them to those in need in Haiti It was enthusiastically approved.

It was asked if there would be a road rally any time soon. The Road Boss stated that there was nothing on the table at present. It was mentioned that we go visit with Mr Greer one day when we were out with our Mustangs. That would be a good trip.

Coming Events

It was suggested that the club do a donation to Mr Greers Charity sine he has done so much for the BMC.  It was suggested that $100.00 be donated by the club. A motion for $100.00 was made and seconded.

The door prize winners were as follows:

Meeting Adjourned.

March 2010 Meeting

Call to Order
The March meeting of the Bluegrass Mustang club was called to order at 7:23pm by President Roy Mundy with 34 members present. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. We had several visitors at this meeting including Ice Man, the DJ for the Dads and Grads show, and his crew from Ice Pack and
Tom Fugate from the Frankfort Mustang club. We also had 4 new members join who are as follows:

Welcome to the family.

We then heard a presentation from Lance Ferry, a former member who rejoined with us, who talked about joining in with them for the Spring break car show at Boonesborough State Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 17th and 18th from 9AM to 4PM.  Last years event raised over $10,000.00 for Cystic Fibrosis. Last years show only had 10 Mustangs, and we DEFINITELY have to do better than that this year!  $5.00 per registration will be rebated back to the club for participation.  Just need a couple of volunteers per day to help.

The next guest speaker was Tom Fugate from Frankfort Mustang club to discuss the potential plans for the World Equestrian Games.  He also announced that Saturday, April 24th, the 5th annual Pony Roundup and all are welcome.  The event will be from 10:00 to 3:00.

The next opportunity will be the Bluegrass Cruise where all regional clubs will gather on Sunday, September 26th at 9:30 AM at the new KOHLS at I-60 and I-64 in Frankfort.  Hoping for 100 to 150 cars for a back roads cruise ending up at capitol View Park, which is a new park overlooking the Capitol building.  At the park there will be BBQ and music events.  The only expense will be the food.  From there we will drive through down town Frankfort past the new Capitol building, the old Capitol building and down to the River Park.  There will be tours, canoe rides and possibly some pony rides.  There is also a potential plan to set up a Mustang Museum so check out www.frankfortmustangsclub.org website for a PowerPoint preview on the history of the Mustang to be under cover at the pavilion at that time.  There will be a repeat of the event on Sunday.  This will be a sponsored event by the City of Frankfort Dept. of Tourism.

Roy is a co-chair of a group that has worked with the World Equestrian Games over the last year and a half called the Affiliated International Ministries, a group that is worldwide involved in the Equestrian ministry.  There will be 8 to 11 international events brought into this country, that are going to be participating on behalf of the Games in various venues.  Part of what is coming is the Wild Mustang Federation Foundation.  They rescue wild Mustangs that are being destroyed.  The Government is rounding them up and corralling them because farmers are complaining about them grazing the lands they need for their cattle.  The government has no options on what to do with them after they corral them, so they are just dying.  The Wild Mustang Federation Foundation is attempting to fix this problem.  They are taking these Mustangs and taking trainers and providing incentives and competition to where a trainer will take a Wild Mustang and work with them for 90 days.  They will let that Mustang compete with other Mustangs.  Then they will sell them into domestic service.

This Federation will be in Georgetown during the Games, and we will possibly have the opportunity to have a trainer and a Wild Mustang for people to see.  Also possibly having a Show and Shine at this Exposition event in Georgetown which will at the Outlet Mall.  Then we could have a Wild Mustang and his trainer in a corral in the middle of our cars and have pictures taken with the Mustang.  Also see the Mustang being trained which would make a great family event.  All are excited about the possibility.  More information to follow.

Another announcement was presented by Karen Mundy.  She works with an Organization that assists under privileged Senior citizens stay in their homes.  They are going to do a car raffle to assist in raising funds.  This year they are raffling off a Vintage Mustang.  They have a couple of volunteers that will assist in finding a Mustang, and they would like to couple with the club, and have the car available for the Dads and Grads and other events to sell the raffle tickets.  Karen asked for volunteers to provide elbow grease to make the car look its best for the raffle.  They will be selling 1000 tickets at $50.00 each.  There will be no cost to the club.

Old Business:
The Car show and Cruise season is upon us. The Dads and Grads show is coming up fast. We have the great fortune of having 3 sites to have the show.  This has been discussed for a few months, and it was decided to have it at the Valvoline World headquarters in Lexington. will be the site of the 2010 Dads and Grads show. Steve informed us that we will have some options of food vendors.  The company that handles the cafeteria services would be an option as well as Old Kentucky BBQ didn't hesitate offering to be there also.  We need to kick it into passing gear to get the rest of the organizational items done.  So there will be a meeting of the BOD and the car show committee at the Mundys on Thursday evening at 7:30pm.

Roy also mentioned that since R. J. Cormans was really warm toward the idea of having the Dads and Grads show there, the possibility was mentioned of having a cruise-in there. Still waiting to hear back on that.Future updates to follow.

Roy also announced that we are going to solicit all of the Ford dealers in the region with the possibility of buying a membership to BMC for everyone that they sell a new Mustang to. Eagerly awaiting results on this initiative.
